Abstrak
Less than a year before the 2024 elections, the political climate in Indonesia is becoming more dynamic. Almost every controversy and problem arising in the media is linked to the electoral prospects of candidates and political parties. Recently, for example, Indonesia’s failure to host the U-20 World Cup was immediately associated with presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo’s electability. The rejection of Israel’s tournament participation allegedly led FIFA to cancel Indonesia’s host status. The rejection came from Islamic groups and the Central Java governor and Bali, who openly disagreed with the Israeli national team’s visit. Consequently, when the World Cup was officially cancelled in Indonesia, criticism flowed heavily toward these two PDIP elites. Speculations about the electoral impact on Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, were widely discussed, including whether President Joko Widodo would withdraw his support for him, given the differences between Ganjar and the president in dealing with the arrival of the Israeli national team.
