Race for Supremacy Through War and Trade Dispute

Abstract

In the first quarter of 2023, two events have been noteworthy in international politics. Both are symptoms of intensifying great power competition where differences between them are increasingly settled through conflict by coercive and/or military means. The first is the ongoing war in Ukraine between Russia and Ukraine on the one side supported by its allies in the West. The second is the deepening semiconductor trade dispute between China and the United States and its allies.
